Plaveč Castle
The castle was built around 1294 as a border fortress. It became a royal castle and has had many owners since then. A tower, a chapel, two bastions, an old palace and a locksmith's house were added to the castle in the later periods. In 1856 the building burned down and fell into disrepair. Remains of the south-eastern masonry with a circular bastion and several walls of the former residential part have been preserved. From the castle hill there is a beautiful view of the surrounding area.
